Royal no 1 mobile

Title: Royal no 1 mobile
Date: 2014
Status: Private Collection
Medium: Acrylic and gold leaf painting on hand cut plywood shapes with galvanised wire
Size: 600mm H x 500mm W

Description: “Inspired by being pregnant, Alexander Calder’s mobiles, the organic forms of Dinosaur Designs and the abstract expressionist painter Max Gimblett, I started to create mobiles. As I started I was reminded of an educational legend “I believe this passionately: that we don’t grow into creativity, we grow out of it. Or rather we are educated out of it” Ken Robinson. I decided my mobiles would be kinetic fine art, open ended and for all ages. Royal no 1 is the first mobile I made. It was in anticipation of my own child, that I would treat like precious royalty.” Katie Blundell 2014
